Historically, hand grenade training has received less emphasis than marksmanship and bayonet training. The rifle, the bayonet, and the hand grenade are the soldier's basic lethal weapons. With confidence and good training, soldiers can put this small but powerful weapon to good use against enemy forces or in any training environment. The tactical employment of hand grenades is limited only by the imagination of the user. This chapter explains how effective and versatile the hand grenade is and how easily it can be carried. These fundamentals include proper carrying, proper handgrips, and the three basic hand grenade throwing techniques.
